In the gentle late-August breeze of Liverpool, it was our privilege to be invited by the Japan Society North West to participate in their vibrant Summer Festival on the 31st of August.
Amidst a wonderful celebration of Japanese culture, Joyce the Florist presented two live demonstrations of Ohara School Ikebana, each telling a different story:
- A Natural Narabu-style Arrangement: A piece that captured a sense of rhythm and harmony through the careful layering of foliage and form.
- An Open Christmas-style Arrangement: A demonstration of how free, joyful lines can evoke a sense of festive warmth, designed to inspire ahead of the season.
We were delighted to present to a capacity audience. The room fell into a beautiful silence as guests became absorbed in the quiet dialogue between artist and nature, watching as each stem found its perfect place. Afterwards, we had many wonderful conversations with guests who expressed their curiosity and admiration for the art of Ikebana.
🌸 Ikebana is more than an art form—it is a way of sensing. It teaches us to feel the seasons in every leaf and to find our own breath in harmony with nature.
